Discussion Forum Expectations:
One post will be required for each Unit (week), minimum. The posts must be long enough to satisfy the question posed. I recommend at least one paragraph of about 4-6 sentences, minimum. There is no length limit. If you have a story to tell, then tell it! If you are unsure if a post is sufficient, email me.
Two responses (minimum) to other student’s posts will also be required each week. Responses must be more than simple agreement or disagreement. “Great post”, “Me, too”, or “I agree/disagree” or similar responses are not sufficient! If you disagree, state why. How do you know? Cite your source.
Post links to websites that are pertinent to the discussion if you know of one. If something similar happened to you, tell us about it. The point is to add to each other’s learning. Ask questions of each other. PARTICIPATE.
If you need further clarification or help to post effective responses, please ask. Students are expected to share. Relating information you are learning to your own life helps you learn it! When someone shares, they are making themselves vulnerable to one extent or another.
Understand that we are all going to be sharing together and be supportive of one another. Student will treat each other with respect. Disagreements will be stated respectfully. In fact, disagreements are good! Having different views, opinions, or even just more or less knowledge than another student is normal and expected. Try to be open-minded and willing to think about things in a new way. Be willing to learn!
Absolutely no put-downs or bullying will be tolerated. Violations will be subject to disciplinary action. If student posts or responses do not meet expectations and are completed by WEDNESDAY, I will notify you and give you an opportunity to post again, respond more, or whatever is needed to earn full participation points before the week is up. I want you to succeed!
